| The objective of this study was to evaluate the centesimal composition and fatty acids in meat from animals fed diets containing levels of soybean hulls. The experiment was conducted at UESB in Itapetinga-BA, Brazil. Twenty-five confined Santa Inês rams were used. Treatments consisted of different levels of substitution of corn by soybean hulls (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%) and elephant grass silage as forage. The design was completely randomized. Samples of concentrate and silage were collected to evaluate the fatty acid composition. The experimental period lasted 110 days. | Quatro vacas lactantes, fistuladas no rúmen, foram distribuídas em um quadrado latino (4x4), com 21 dias de período experimental, sendo os três últimos de avaliação, com a finalidade de avaliar os efeitos da combinação de óleo de soja e monensina sobre o consumo, a digestibilidade total e parcial dos nutrientes, os parâmetros ruminais e a síntese microbiana. Os animais foram dispostos em um arranjo fatorial (2x2) - presença ou ausência de óleo de soja (4% na MS) e presença ou ausência de monensina na dieta (33 ppm) e receberam dietas com 55% de silagem de milho e 45% de concentrado. | The objective of this study was to estimate and evaluate the contents of apparently digestible fractions of crude protein, ether extract and non-fibrous carbohydrates, the digestible fraction of the neutral detergent fiber and the content of total digestible nutrients (TDN) from the chemical composition of feeds in growing cattle fed different diets. Fourteen F1 Red Angus × Nellore young bulls with average age and weight of 12 months and 287±36 kg were used. | Two experiments were carried out to evaluate the effects of particles sizes on contents of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) by using nylon bags F57 (Ankom®) and non-woven textile (NWT 100 g/m²). In the first experiment, to check contents of NDF obtained with each one of the textilles, quantitative filter paper (purified cellulose) was used as analytical standard. The material was processed in a 1 or 2 mm and put in the bags in a ratio of 20 mg of dry matter/cm² of surface. | The objective of this experiment was to evaluate estimates of concentration of indigestible dry matter (iDM), indigestible neutral detergent fiber (iNDF) and indigestible acid detergent fiber (iADF) in samples of cattle feed and feces processed at different particle sizes (1-, 2-, and 3-mm) using bags made from nylon (50 μm), F57 (Ankom®), and non-woven textile (NWT - 100 g/m²) in a in situ evaluation procedure. | The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of supplementation with nitrogenous compounds on intake, digestibility, and rumen microbial synthesis in cattle fed low-quality tropical forage. Five crossbred heifers, averaging 209 kg and fitted with ruminal fistulla, were used. | A digestibilidade aparente e os consumos de matéria seca (MS), de matéria orgânica (MO), de proteína bruta (PB), de fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) e de nutrientes digestíveis totais (NDT) foram avaliados para se determinar o efeito da substituição do milho por farelo de palma forrageira (0, 33, 66 e 100%), em dietas de ovinos em crescimento.
